In March 2020, Rebecca Bramlett collaborated with Austin Mason, Lecturer in History, to curate a group of books/thematic tables for an in-person Special Collections visit for ENGL 285. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the in-person visit was not possible. The following spring, Austin and George Cusack, Senior Lecturer in English, requested a virtual visit of Special Collections using Scalar. With the books Austin identified as a starting point then Rebecca’s expertise in field, Rebecca built out the structure of the site with an added miscellaneous category and timeline. Rebecca scanned the books required for the website, uploaded the photographs, decided what metadata to include for the purpose of the class, and described the important features of each book for the website.
